I have been taking a look at the ENS 10.2.1 standalone product. The dmg installer presents the end-user option to install Threat Prevention, FireWall and Web Control. We basically want the end-user to just install Threat Prevention. Is there a seperate installer or a script that can be used that the user can run which only install Threat Prevention.
For our end-users, it will be confusing for them to install the whole product as the FireWall option display the message about installid, this will confuse our end-users. Also they won't understand when a popup comes up from Web Control about Accept/Deny the brwoser plug-in. I want it to be simple for the end-user to install .
The payload we received has one install.sh script containing an embedded/encoded binary (yea, believe it, such a 1990's hack). ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
It also came with three proper flat and signed packages, clearly from a group within McAfee that is more adept/capable, aligning with Apple's best practices for software distribution. #JustSaying
If you have a tool like Casper, its easy to set up a policy containing the four pieces, run in order. No reboot necessary.
Yes its one of the new feature in ENS Mac. You can install only one module by just passing command line parameter for the module you would like to install. For details refer to this KB 84772
