Updates fail on MacOS High Sierra using Livesafe

Jump to solution

Hi all,

For awhile shortly after High Sierra was released, the Livesafe *installer* wouldn't even run, so it does appear that this latest version *is* compatible with the newest OS of High Sierra (10.13).

I was able to download and install the latest version successfully, but the problem now is that EVERY single time I either manually get updates or have it automatically update, the same error screen

pops up (screenshot attached) - "Error while installing updates!"

Not sure how to fix this, or if it's even possible - maybe there's a bug in the software that won't allow it to download updates.

Anything I can do about this?

Any help is appreciated,

      -Bryan

Please try the steps below:

1. Check any firewall apps is installed from "Applications"? If any installed, please remove them and try McAfee update

2. Clear cache and cookies from safari (It will not remove your browsing history or saved passwords in Safari)

     Open Safari

Click on "Safari" from Menu bar and choose "Preferences"

     Click on "Privacy" tab

Click on the button "Remove All Website Data"

Click on the button "Remove now" or "Remove all"

3. Change McAfee Firewall type to Home or wok

Open McAfee Preferences by click on "McAfee" icon on Menu bar

    Click on "Firewall "tab

Choose type from "Public" to "Home or Work"

4. Initiate McAfee updates and check the status

5. If still issue persist, Check the link to re-install McAfee Antivirus Software and Internet Security For Your PC or Mac | McAfee and let us know the status.

i think the question is; is Livesafe installer ready for Mac High Sierra 10.13 ?..........

for over 2 weeks ago someone tried to install this on this mac os version. but this failed time after time.

the answer that was given was that mcafee was working on this.

sofar i have not seen any message that it was fixed and ready to install

maybe someone of the mods can ask about the progress for you ?......

Thanks Karthik.    Tried this and it worked like a charm!   Much appreciated.

Yep, this was it - I always set up my firewall by default whenever I set up the system from clean install for the stealth mode feature.

I was able to add McAfee to the allowed apps and suddenly the updates started coming through.

Now though, it won't seem to let me turn on Real-Time scanning - I'll turn it on, then lock the page, shut down / restart the app, and it will be turned off again...

I just realized my response to Karthik was a bit vague.   What worked for me was #5 - re-installing the software.   I tried all of the suggestions with the firewall and none of them worked.   I just had to reset the date/time of my auto-scans.

Never mind, a reboot solved the Real-Time scanning issue...
