Automatic update error message

My system is set to automatic updates, but I constantly get a message saying 'Error while installing updates'. Internet connection is fine. Manual updates don't work. McAfee online support doesn't provide an answer. Can anyone help, please?

Could you please try >Navigation > General Settings and Alerts >Access Protection and uncheck/Apply.

Close your McAfee UI, Reopen and 'Check for Updates'. Then re-enable Access Protection.

See if this resolves your issues

Re: Automatic update error message

Cheers, I'll try this later and see if it works. Have to go out now. (What's a UI?)

Re: Automatic update error message

As we are not familiar with MAC products (where I just moved this) please use the Virtual Technician check it out and if it finds issues then re-contact Technical Support and ask for escalation.

McAfee UI ( McAfee User Interface) Simply means to Open your McAfee Security Center.

Re: Automatic update error message

Just got round to trying your solution, but I don't even know how to find 'navigation' etc. You are talking to a complete novice! If you have the patience, an you talk me through it, please?
