Move Agentless deployment without NSX or vShield or vCloud Networking & Security

What I need to understand and hope there is a way-out.!

1. Is it possible to successfully deploy Move Antivirus (Agentless Protection) without NSX or vCNS.?

2. if not above, Is it possible to setup McAfee Move with NSX manager but no Distributed Switches.

Please Read-On for more details..

I am trying to get McAfee Move 4.8.0.168 Agentless installation done for a VSAN Cluster with Standard Switches and not Distributed switches.

Workload - 6 Host VSAN Cluster for VDI VM's (400+ Windows 10)

VCenter Version : 6.7.0, 10244857
ESXi Build : ESXi, 6.7.0, 8169922
Storage : VSAN

License Details
vCenter Server 6 Standard for Horizon
vSphere 6 for Desktop
vSAN 6.2 Advanced for Desktop (CCU)1

Just for the sake of configuration I have deployed NSX and have registered in VCenter and also ePO. I am at the following stage.

Deploy the McAfee MOVE AntiVirus service
To provide McAfee MOVE AntiVirus (Agentless) protection to the virtual machines on your ESXi servers, you must install the McAfee MOVE AntiVirus service (McAfee MOVE AntiVirusSVM) on your ESXi servers.

Before you begin

  • The host, where you are deploying the SVM using NSX Manager, is part of a cluster.
  • The datacenter is using a vSphere distributed switch.
  • Guest Introspection service is installed on all ESXi servers.
  • Virtual machines have the latest VMware Tools installed, including the vShield Driver.
  • You have appropriate permission to perform the SVM deployment using McAfee ePO. You can enable this permission by navigating through Menu → Users → Permission Sets → MOVE AV [Agentless] SVM Deployment → Edit.

Re: Move Agentless deployment without NSX or vShield or vCloud Networking & Security

1. Is it possible to successfully deploy Move Antivirus (Agentless Protection) without NSX or vCNS.?

no, it isn't possible

2. if not above, Is it possible to setup McAfee Move with NSX manager but no Distributed Switches.

its not move that requires a distributed switch.  that is something that vmware requires when setting up the nsx environment.  so our requirements are based on what vmware requires.

see https://docs.vmware.com/en/VMware-NSX-Data-Center-for-vSphere/6.4/com.vmware.nsx.install.doc/GUID-07...

  • For each host cluster that participates in NSX, verify that all hosts within the cluster are attached to a common vSphere Distributed Switch (VDS).
