I have LiveSafe. Since I bought and downloaded this I can't get any work accomplished on my computer because every minute or 2 a pop-up window comes up: Potentially Unwanted Program Blocked. This has the options of Remove, Allow, or Close. It doesn't matter what I choose, it pops back up almost immediately. When I open McAfee security center it shows I am safe and there are no issues. I cannot get a thing done and it's driving me crazy. What do I do?
Have you just installed the software and have you completely restarted the system to allow the software to read it from startup in order to set programme permissions?
It's either that or it's detecting malware, but you probably would have seen other warnings of that.
What operating system and service pack (if applicable) is this and could you also check what version of Internet Explorer is installed? The software uses that even if you don't.
Try a complete shut down and then reboot to see if it helps.
Then run the Virtual Technician to see if it finds and fixes anything. http://mvt.mcafee.com/

Thank you for your quick reply. I believe I bought and downloaded McAfee about a week ago. I have shut down and restarted several times since then with the hope that the pop-up would go away. I run Chrome; however the box pops up even when I'm not logged on to the computer. I'm currently using my ipad to post and respond to my question. As I stated in the original question, when I open up McAfee, it shows no indication that there is a problem. Also, I don't see a place where I can select options on scans and such (thinking that perhaps I can set LiveSafe to simply remove adware/malware without constantly asking).
If it helps, when the box pops up, I click More to see the problem: generally I get a variety of 'pups' and a few others. I had downloaded Mozilla Firefox. It had come with a slew of other programs I nether wanted nor needed. I had so many problems uninstalling those, that I simply uninstalled Firefox. As a matter of fact, it seemed the pop-ups first started when I downloaded Firefox. The first program the box dealt with was "BrowseFox" and similar Adware.
So. That's all I know.
If I may add to the conversation. It seems that you have inadvertently installed some Potentially Unwanted Programs. I would remove all suspicious Add-ons from your Browsers/Control Panel. Then run the Latest McAfee Getsusp Tool. Please enter your Email address before scanning.
Then I would follow up with Malwarebytes (Free) Do not accept the Free Trial/or activate.
In addition, here is a Trusted/Reputable Removal Guide for (Browsefox) :
As Ex_Brit stated, it is imperative that you are Current with all of your Windows Updates,to include Internet Explorer, even if you choose to not use it. For McAfee and other programs do to function properly. Make certain you have the latest Adobe Flash Player installed (220.127.116.11)
Wishing you all the very best,
Thank you. This is all quite helpful. I knew better when I downloaded Firefox - but I was in a hurry. Chrome wasn't working for the grading software I use through my college, so I went for Firefox. And I don't care at all for IE. I didn't pay attention. I will follow these steps and explore this further, as well as reading the article you suggested.
Thank you so much.
You are perfectly welcome That is why we are here to assist the best we can.

And it's a reasonable question, Ex_Brit. I downloaded directly from the Mozilla website. I know better than to download from sites I can't identify. However, I do know that I did NOT pay attention to what I was agreeing to as I went through the download process - and I know better about that, too!
