I have a Windows 8.1/64 toshiba laptop, 8gb ram, i5 cpu,& 1tb hdd. New retail card code accepted, and initial small download worked.
1. Uninstalled old version of livesafe
2. Ran the mcafee removal program
3. deactivated windows firewall
4. Deactivated Windows Defender
5. ran the mcafee pre-install utility 64 bit

No need to turn off Windows Firewall or Windows Defender as the software's installer does that automatically , nor any need for the pre-install utility as that is included in the newest installers, and I trust the MCPR tool was freshly downloaded and you rebooted afterwards?

There are no error codes/numbers. All we see is "unexpected server access error. try again later"; the latter has been tried many times over several hours.
In summary we still have the problem.
Thank you. You are 100% correct. On reflection, I have no idea how McAfee tried a non-uk server, or why. Further the diagnostic is about as helpful as a dead sheep!
