McAfee problem

Hello. I need to remove pre installed McAfee LiveSafe from a Compaq laptop windows 8.1 in order to download TalkTalk SuperSafe. When I click on uninstall, I am instructed to select what I want to remove however there is no list of things shown to choose from. I have also tried to delete McAfee but I am told I need permission from the adminstrator. I am not able to look at my McAfee subsciption becasue the free trial has ended and I would need to pay for a subcription in order to log in. Can anyone advise please? Thanks
