I just want to know how can I control my product... I have this process working (McAfee on-access scanner service - Anti-Malware Core), consuming CPU and making my laptop's fan going at it.
I should be able to pause it, resume it and postponing it at will, for several reasons. Why isn't LiveSafe showing that McAfee is doing a scan and giving me control over it?
This isn't reasonable at all.
This can happen straight after boot when indexing is taking place if you index the whole drive the scanner is being accessed as each file is read. I reduce the folders indexed. Also what operating system?
Does it improve after a time?
I had already done full systemn scan a couple days ago and I didn't do much after that. Why does it need to index the files randomly today? And it wasn't after any boot.
Was it indexing the files you should have seen indication of this in the system tray bottom right screen. I thought indexing was after boot. Did you have another scanner installed before Mvafee or with it?. The indexing is a microsoft action when it happens Mcafee checks teh files as indexing accesses them.
No other scanner before this one and Windows Defender is turned off.
Just to check, the LifeSafe should have shown in the bottom right corner of its window an indication of the scan? Or the right bottom corner of the taskbar?
I can't remember if I checked both those places thoroughly. When/if it happens again I'll check it.
If it was checking indexing it would not show in teh sytem tray icon only updates and scans show as a blue spinning thingy. That is my feel on this. I meant indexing shows its own icon in the system tray not on Mcafee shield.
