Re: McAfee Management Service host - VERY HIGH CPU USAGE

No update on how to fix this?  Sad.  If not fixed soon, I'll be forced to move on to another AV suite.

Re: McAfee Management Service host - VERY HIGH CPU USAGE

A fix was included in McAfee Security version 16.0 R12 however I see posters indicating that problem persists. It is possible that there is an underlying issue that needs investigation.

Re: McAfee Management Service host - VERY HIGH CPU USAGE

i rolled back some windows updates to nov 2017

as some people mentioned could be tied to some win update

the hi cpu usage is less frequent but still there today on ocasions.

yesterday for me it peaked 61% up down up down

average 45%. ive had mcaffee sub since 2011, my issues only started

in the last month. prior to that i used norton from 2001 - 2011

i actually deleted my module core exe which also removed 0-10% use

and mcaffee still working - updating fine .

tonight bouncing between 0-15-26% once it starts my sound stutters badly

Re: McAfee Management Service host - VERY HIGH CPU USAGE

In reply to Selvan: from my side, I no longer had any issue with mmsshost after running a McAfee piece of s/w (see previous mail), therefore I can't tell if the new release help or not. Looking at Task Manager and seeking for the McAfee CPU performance, this is what I can give (and by the way, surprising to see how many McAfee subfiles are: 19 with <10% CPU usage!):

mcafee june 07.JPG

Re: McAfee Management Service host - VERY HIGH CPU USAGE

today for me fluctuating between 0 -10-17-25% cpu usuage .

tonight its between 25-50% , making me think long and hard

about my 8th year renewel in july.

Re: McAfee Management Service host - VERY HIGH CPU USAGE

3 days no answer , i also noticed when i re - installed mcafee this time

i didnt get an option of what i want to install, ive only ever installed

firewall / anti virus from the selection list, now dont even get a choice

it installs all of mcafees products which i dont want.

i went into safe mode - removed mcafee module core exe.

firewall/virus prot still works.

i then removed 2 folders MSQ / VUL , firewall/virus prot still works

guess what? cpu usage 98% free, McAfee Management Service host 0.01 %

not 20-40-60% cpu usage, and memory useage on McAfee Management Service host

fell from 230 - to 28.216 usuage . seems not allowing people a choice

of what to install anymore kinda a shty thing that we have to rip parts out

in short removing those 2 folders disabled,  QUICK CLEAN - VULNERABILITY SCANNER

and SHREDDER -  as well asa deleting module core exe

2 things i need to work still do, firewall/antivirus.

also took out the CORE folder from the PEF folder - firewall/antivirus still working 100%

McAfee Management Service host now at 20 meg usage on startup - much better

this what worked for me.

safe mode. drag modulecore.exe to a desktop folder.

safe mode drag MSQ / VUL folders to a desktop folder

safe mode drag only CORE folder from PEF folder to a desktiop folder

then reboot - be advised for me after that the 2 things i need still work

firewall / virus software . quick clean/shredder/vulnerability scanner become disabled

in mcafee - fine with me, and McAfee Management Service host 0.01 seems back to

normal with low cpu/and memory usage

Re: McAfee Management Service host - VERY HIGH CPU USAGE

a fix ive found - months ago alot of mcafee files where optional on install

ie - i only ever installed firewall/antivirus protection all the rest i ignored.

with the new installer all the stuff u could ignore to install is now auto

installed - so i did the following steps and cpu usage is now normal

as is my memory usage. but do at your own risk

i deleted . MODULECORE.EXE. in safe mode but left file in a folder on desktop

i deleted core folder from pef folder but left in a folder on desktop

i deleted mqs and vul folders but left in a folder on desktop

doing step 3 disabled quick clean / vulnerability scanner / shredder / fine with me never used it.

firewall and antivirus scanner still work fine for me, all i need

McAfee Management Service host useage fell dramatically . for me.

but remember doing an update will put those files back.

Re: McAfee Management Service host - VERY HIGH CPU USAGE

Then I would have another year coming. I have been complaining about this issue for about a year now... ( october/november 2017). I should be up for renewal in august, but That's not gonna happen.

My "techie" asked me one question ... access to my computer and when I refused.... never seen him again. So much for customer suport at McAfee!

Re: McAfee Management Service host - VERY HIGH CPU USAGE

I'm up for renewal in august... My 7th or 8th year... Not gonna happen.
Poor customer support, just want my money. Occasionally they sent a techie on latrine duty... "keep thos bloody customers happy" and then we get questions like "can I have access to your computer?", "Is the issue resolved with our last fix?"
Nothing more.

Renewal? Not gonna happen with this kind of customer support
