For the past week or so Live Safe Security will not maintain the real time scanning in a operating status, permanently stuck in the starting up phase. The amount of times it's told me to check the software is getting cumbersome, and I have tried to fix the issues by restarting my computer but the real time scanning is still stuck in start up. It's even updated a few times in the process. How do I resolve the issue?

Make sure your system is totally up to date, including Internet Explorer, even if you never use it. Make sure IE is at default level also as the software relies on it.
Run the Virtual Technician to see if it fixes anything: http://mvt.mcafee.com
If that doesn't help do a complete uninstall/reinstall as in TS101331.
