I used to have Norton but was getting frustrated with it so when I replaced my PC this week I bought McAfee Live safe to go with it. I've downloaded it but nothing seems to be happening with it at all. I use Google Chrome all the time and I accidentally hit the button to search on Internet Explorer earlier and the McAfee symbol popped up by the search bar on that, even though I didn't want it there. How can I get it to work with Google Chrome as I don't want to use IE?
Welcome to McAfee Communities. I presume by you saying "McAfee Symbol popped up by Search Bar" in Internet Explorer. You are talking about "McAfee Site Advisor" I am not that familiar with Google Chrome, however It looks as though you have to enable it with-in your Extensions/Add-ons.
Even in Internet Explorer , you have to set up your preferences with in it. You need to create a Password and hint and then save. Please make certain that you are current with all Windows Updates, and Add-ons to include Adobe Flash Player ( 126.96.36.199) In Chrome it is basically baked in. As well in Internet Explorer running Windows 8/8.1.
Even as you stated, you choose to not use Internet Explorer. Please make certain it is current as well, for McAfee and other important programs depend on it being so, to function properly. We do have individuals whom utilize "Google Chrome" whom quite possibly will pick this thread up, and add to the Discussion.
As long as your McAfee Security Center UI ( Green ) and says "You are Secure"
You can also learn more on how to use all of your McAfee features/Set-up.
By Opening your McAfee UI,click on(Help)Top Right. Then click on (Help) Top left. This will take you to a "Step-by-Step" Guide. Allow page to load.
Wishing you all the very Best,

There is an issue with Chrome. You might consider starting a case with Technical Support regarding Chrome. See the link below.
But first make sure SiteAdvisor is enabled in Chrome extension then try rebooting to see if that fixed it.

Thanks for those answers. I did check it was enabled after you answered and it was. I tried enabling and disabling it several times to see if it would spark into life. I then gave up and decided I would use another search provider after I returned from a few days holiday or make a call to technical support. I've come back and don't ask me why - its just started all by itself! So if anyone else is having the same problem - my advice would be to have a holiday!! Thanks for answering so quickly I really appreciated it.
Glad that all is okay now If you feel that your issue has been resolved, If you would kindly please mark this thread apppropiately, as we can consider this thread answered. And a "Good Holiday to you as well
