maybe some previous update went the wrong way and the easiest way to fix is to do a reinstall of livesafe ?......
to do so :
1 use windows programs and features in Control Panel to remove McAfee Livesafe and Webadvisor. reboot the computer
2 download and run MCPR the removal tool to clean up most of the remaining fiiles and registry entries.
http://us.mcafee.com/apps/supporttools/mcpr/mcpr.asp
reboot and thereafter the new install of livesafe.
