return-path address rejected

We're receiving some interesting bouncebacks going through the Email Gateway, but unfortunately there are absolutely no logs on the traffic. Has anyone else seen these errors?

Failed to deliver to'user@mydomain.com'
SMTP module(domain mydomain.com) reports:
return-path address <someone@otherdomain.net> rejected by MEG.mydomain.com:
221 Service closing transmission channel closing connection

Return-Path: MAILER-DAEMON@server505.appriver.com

The return path header indicates another hosted provider, that does not match the actual sending domain. Again, the Email Gateway has no logs of rejecting the traffic whatsoever, so I don't know how to adjust the config.

Do you have "Reject Invalid MailFrom" enabled under Intrusion Defender -> smtpi service?
