Hello,
I have a very strange issue.
After I installed the HIPS 8.0 and after the rollout everything is working fine except of the WIFI-Connections on the notebooks.
After a reboot the WIFI is not working anymore.
The WIFI is working again if I send a global disable rule to the client.
If I have created a firewall ruleset and Enabled all options on the Network Options (cable, wireless, virtual) and any protocol.
I think this ruleset should work. I also created the firewall option ( Allow bridged traffic).
But the WIFI is still not working.
Ideas?
Thank you in advance.
kind regards
Michael Seiler
If disabling the Firewall resolves the issue, then it's probably caused by blocked network traffic. For wireless networking, make sure you have a firewall rule to allow non-IP protocol 888e traffic (EAPOL; choose it from the drop down Ethertype list). This is a default rule called Allow 802.1x Authentication in the Typical Corporate Environment policy.
Hi,
I have created a rule on 2. position
The first rule is to select if the user is in the internal lan or external. (Query internal dns-server)
But the problem is not solved with your workaround:-(
Did I something wrong?
I've noticed 2 facts:
If the network cable is connected, the WLAN is working as well.
After about 20 Minutes the WLAN is working without any changes and without network cable.
Thank you so much for your help
The screenshot is correct, however, try putting this rule at the top of the policy, outside of any Location Aware Groups.
Hi,
I did it wihout success.
Still no WLAN:-(
I'm desperate. (Attached screenshot)
Anything else I can try?
There are lots of notebooks and the can not use wlan!
Thank you in advance.
Hello,
little update..
I deleted every rule and create a new one which allows everything and nothing can be blocked.
The issue still persists
I have no idea what to do.
Kind regards
Michael
Hello,
I will try now to install HIPS on windows 7.
Maybe the issue does not persist with it.
Does anyone have an idea?
Thank you in advance
Can you try clearing the Activity Log, attempting to connect to wireless, and then posting the results of the Activity Log here?
It is clear that the Firewall is blocking something, but for an outsider trying to assist, it is difficult to say what might be blocked unless we have an exported activity log.
Hi,
I created a rule (allow all) on top of the ruleset.
I cleared the log and rebootet the device without a cable.
After startup the device can not connect to the WLAN.
Everything is alled in the logfile with the rule allow all. No drop rules at all.
But the WLAN is not connected.
If i put the same configuration on a Windows 7 Client.... Everthing is working fine.
Without any changes. I tried different computers with different hardware.
Everything is working fine with Windows 7.
I have no idea what to do.
Kind regards
Hi, Michael.
Did you ever find a solution? I'm having the same exact issue in every respect. Though, I discovered that if I connect the Ethernet cable, wireless works and continues to work after I disconnect the cable.
Thanks,
Chris
