Unable to deploy HIPs to Linux hosts

I am currently running ePO 5.10. The Linux host has 5.6.1 the latest McAfee agent on it. Every time I try to deploy the package whether its a scheduled task or a run now task it just fails. I've tried to find a stand-alone package to see if that would install but I was unable to find one. Any help would be greatly appreciated. RHEL OS version is 7.6.

Re: Unable to deploy HIPs to Linux hosts

Hi @JDCast11 There is a reported issue with the Agent 5.6.1 failing the Compatibility check for HIPS Linux 8.0.  You can either downgrade the Agent back to a 5.5.1 version, or in the Agent General policy, temporarily disable the Incompatibility check: Enable Incompatibility check on the Deployment tab.  Either one should work to install HIPS Linux 8.0.

Re: Unable to deploy HIPs to Linux hosts

I just tried disabling the incompatibility check but it seems to have the same issue. We would like to avoid reverting the agent back to 5.5.1 as that will introduce old vulnerabilities into our environment. Is a hotfix in the works to get this fixed? If so, do you have a timeline of when that will be available?

Re: Unable to deploy HIPs to Linux hosts

Make sure you update the Agent properties before you attempt to rerun the HIPS deployment task.  In all my tests, this resolved the deployment issue.

If this isn't working for you, please contact McAfee Support with Agent MER data to review please.

Re: Unable to deploy HIPs to Linux hosts

I think I found the issue. Is HIPS not compatible with Threat prevention?
