When I bring up the Task Manager and the HIP ipc interface with MA 4.8+ (32 bit), McAfee Host Intrusion Prevention ipc Service is taking up loads of memory. Almost 50% of the total memory it concerns me and I want to know why and why it's not releasing it. It keeps building and other than rebooting the server I have no solution. This is on a windows server. We have HIPS 8.0.0.4605 with patch 11.
Need help trying to figure out what is causing this.
Hi @Da_Kine I would first suggest upgrading the McAfee Agent version to the latest version applicable, since the 4.8 version is in "end of life" state since March 2018; ref https://www.mcafee.com/enterprise/en-us/support/product-eol.html#product=mcafee_agent.
The HIP ipc interface with MA 4.8+ (32 bit), McAfee Host Intrusion Prevention ipc Service is from HipMgmt.exe.
Considering that it's an old version and not from the ePO, as ePO lists a newer version that should be on that server. Would it be okay to remove or stop the service for the HipMgmt.exe?
Removing or stopping the HIPS LPC service is not supported.
