When I bring up the Task Manager and the HIP ipc interface with MA 4.8+ (32 bit), McAfee Host Intrusion Prevention ipc Service is taking up loads of memory. Almost 50% of the total memory it concerns me and I want to know why and why it's not releasing it. It keeps building and other than rebooting the server I have no solution. This is on a windows server. We have HIPS 184.108.40.20605 with patch 11.
Need help trying to figure out what is causing this.
Hi @Da_Kine I would first suggest upgrading the McAfee Agent version to the latest version applicable, since the 4.8 version is in "end of life" state since March 2018; ref https://www.mcafee.com/enterprise/en-us/support/product-eol.html#product=mcafee_agent.
The HIP ipc interface with MA 4.8+ (32 bit), McAfee Host Intrusion Prevention ipc Service is from HipMgmt.exe.
Considering that it's an old version and not from the ePO, as ePO lists a newer version that should be on that server. Would it be okay to remove or stop the service for the HipMgmt.exe?
