Re: How to create a IPS rule for windows shared resources

I would suggest opening a Service Request if you need more assistance, but I tried it on my Windows 7 client running Host IPS 8.0, and my rule for outbound 445 traffic allowed me to access \\<hostname> just fine.  Check your Activity log to see if another port besides 445 is being used, that was blocked.

Check if the rule is applied to a "Trusted Group" of computers or subnet. If it is and you're accessing from a machine that is not part of that Trusted Group then the rule does not get applied to your machine.
