Re: HIPS Install Through ePO Not Working

Jump to solution

We rec'd the message to reboot after running the hips install , after disabling the AV. We did not reboot.. we can see the partially installed hips directories and are going to try uninstalling and reinstalling.

The problem is we receive the reboot to finish install message also but when we do it's not installed. Can you guys let me know when this started happening in your environment.  Was it recently like last week?

Re: HIPS Install Through ePO Not Working

I can't say for sure as we've always had some machines in our environment that didn't get hips for some reason or another but we didn't have any reports of this type issue until very recently - within the last 2 weeks or so I'd say.  I've reported this to our SAM and I believe this is being escalated to tier 3...

Yeah Andy this only started happening within the last two weeks.  We've never had this kind of issue.  Thanks again.

What model machines are you seeing this on?  It wouldn't happen to be Dell Latitude E6400's would it?

You can try this to proceed for the install/update of HIPS through ePO.

Edit the Access protection policy for VSE from ePO

Under Common Standard Protection->Prevent Modification of McAfee Files & Folders

Under the excluded process list, add mfehidini.exe and then push out this updated policy to all clients.

Once this has been done, push out your HIPS install/Update to the clients.

That should be succesfull.

That exe is already added as an excluded process.  Thank you.

The 499 BO/AP DAT posted last Thursday resolved this.
