Hello all, I just installed and configured an EMM server and everything appeared to have gone through without a hitch. When I provision my android phone, everything works flawlessly. I get prompted to create a new unlock password and the device shows up in helpdesk. However, when I try to provision my iPad, it does not ask to configure an unlock password nor does it ask for the vpn password. It does however download a profile and configure enterprise email. And lastly, it does not appear in helpdesk. Is this because I need an MDM cert? I was under the impression you could still provision iOS devices without and MDM cert. Anybody seen this before? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks all.

Is it an iPad2? If it is, do you have the latest device catalog installed?
mrt, thanks for the response. The device is an ipad 1 running 4.2.1. Also, I do have the latest device catalog installed. That's one of the first things I did after the device didn't appear under helpdesk.
Yes, I can get to the emmportal from safari and login. It then tries to provision my device and everything is as I described above. It gets the cert and downloads a profile but never asks me to set up an unlock password or a vpn password. And it still doesn't show up in helpdesk.
You can provision devices without the MDM, but the functionality is much lower.
Myself, i had some issues with ios devices not showing up in helpdesk, but it magically solved itself, having the mdm greatly facilitates things there ...
I've also had issues with exchange failing when modifying policies, and returning to functional state with no apparent reason... als here the mdm helps alot
Do you have multiple policies in your console?
ifso, is password requirements check enabled on all the policies, you might want to check the order of them in that case.
Also, do you have compliancy enforement enabled in the general settings?
