Hi all !
I am a beginner on McAfee EMM.
I have to install McAfee EMM 10.0.1.1.
1 So I want to know if it is possible to do the installation without a proxy server.
Thank you in advance !
What is the problem that you are running into with installing the proxy server?
You can use a private SSL certificate but it will give you a certificate error when someone visits the page on a computer that does not trust your CA. This does not effect the function of EMM at all as far as mobile devices are concerned but it is generally recommended to use a 3rd party CA if you intend to have your users use the self service portal at all. McAfee recommends godaddy certificates.
You will also need to create an MDM certificate: https://kc.mcafee.com/corporate/index?page=content&id=KB73382&pmv=print
And ensure that your push certificate is up to date which you can check by logging into the console, under system settings -> certificates. Updated push certificates can be found on your mcafee downloads page.
That really depends on what you want to test. You can deploy just the hub and you should be able to log into the hub and poke around. If you want to test with mobile devices you will need the proxy. You may be able to find a way to make it work reasonably well without the proxy available on the internet but by just making sure that it has access to the push servers and such but really if you want see it work in a test environment I would recommend using the simplified mode in the install guide. Or if your relatively positive that you're going to go from a test to production with it then just set it up they way that you intend for production in the first place.
What is your reason for not wanting the proxy... It's easier for me to help you if I know the reasons behind you're questions.
I have already installed the Hub, database and Console.
I have submited the MDM certificat to Mcafee support (I am waiting the answer)
Concerning the proxy server, can I use softwares like Jana Server, Squid?
Can I also you dynamic IP for the proxy server ?
I don't think you would have any luck using a 3rd party proxy server unless you are extremely skilled at integration and able to get down in the nitty gritty of the config files or even the code of those apps. It surely wouldn't be supported and it's not likely you will find much help on this forrum in doing so.
I suppose you could use a dynamic ip if you also use dynamic dns. Can't think of a reason that wouldn't work. On the otherhand static IPs are usually only about $5-15 a month so... Are you doing this out of your house?
