why 8.7.0 and not 8.7.0.570.Wrk ??

i'm getting mixed results from my ePo 4.0 console.

across the network i have clients running viruscan 8.5 or 8.7.

but i can't figure out why in my reporting for client versions i see both 8.7.0 and 8.7.0.570.Wrk

am i pushing out the installations wrong ? i haven't narrowed it down to why i am seeing two different product versions when they should all be the same:

Computer 1: McAfee Agent 4.0.0.1345, Product Coverage Reports 4.0.0.1345, VirusScan Enterprise 8.7.0

Computer 2: McAfee Agent 4.0.0.1345, Product Coverage Reports 4.0.0.1345, VirusScan Enterprise 8.7.0.570.Wrk

I am experiencing the same issue with VSE 8.5. Some machines report 8.5.0 (instead of 8.5.0.781.Wrk). Any suggestions?

Have all AV Installations been deployed by ePO - no local installs lurking around perhaps ?

We do not use ePO for initial distribution of VSE (that's a long story...), but all these machines were installed the same way using the same package. Interestingly the registry key HKLM\SOFTWARE\McAfee\DesktopProtection\szProductVer holds the (correct) value 8.5.0.781.

But as i just checked - after waking up the agent with a request of the full properties the version is reported correctly. This calls for automation.... happy

yep.. it dawned on me when i had a few seconds to think about it..

we install intially using a stand-alone installer.

i install upgrades, updates, and computers that we missed the install on, from the ePo server.

hence the difference.
