total protection for small business questions

1. does anyone else hate it?

i tried it for the first time this week and it was a shambles, after following the security settings to the letter the download flaked out four times on average for each machine, and this is on a site with a leased line where i have proof the line was perfectly stable and next to no traffic. the new product itself feels so basic compared to VSE8.5, and when i tried to scan a folder, script errors came up and the interface sat there and did nothing. i was supposed to be switching a client network from kaspersky to mcafee today, but after my experience this week i feel i may have to go the other way.

2. what products are available to small businesses (10-200 computers) where we can download, install and use virusscan enterprise 8.5?

over the last 3 years i have invested considerable time in training my engineers in the intricacies of the mcafee framework service and protection pilot, any one of them now can have an entire network correctly configured and protected within 30 minutes.

this product seems to be "windows millinium edition" of the mcafee range of products. i spent a considerable amount of time mailing mcafee and phoning them to find out what products would be included in this suite, and i was told by 4 different mcafee sources VSE 8.5 would be part of this suite as a full package.

i have fought with many clients to get mcafee in as their antivirus solution, and now i am seriously considering another vendor if this is what they are going to give small businesses as a solution

RE: total protection for small business questions

I might be wrong,
but I think the SMB variant is the managed solution from McAfee.
Meaning you'll get a UI stripped VSE85 with all its features,
but managed from within a portal.

What you really want is at least the TEN license
which gives you VSE85, ePO (not protection pilot!) and Groushield.
Should be more then enough for an SMB client

RE: total protection for small business questions

According to the products Data Sheet: http://www.mcafee.com/us/local_content/datasheets/ds_total_small.pdf "All Total Protection for Small Business subscriptions include 24/7 McAfee Gold Technical Support for easy access to trusted security experts by phone, chat, and email."
This would have been outlined in the contract when you purchased the product.
