scanning remote computers from a centralized location
We have Virus Scan 8.5i and Protection Pilot 1.5.0 installed on our network. We did not install Virus Scan on some machines because it disrupts their normal operation. We still need to scan them once a month. Is there a way to do it remotely from a centralized location without having to install Virus Scan on them?
RE: scanning remote computers from a centralized location
We've done it by sharing out the C: drive on the network (not really a safe practice), then using a remoter computer, access the shared drive, RIGHT click on the shared "C:", choose "Scan with McAfee VirusScan". It should then scan the shared C: drive from the remote machine. It's a manual scan from the remote computer (we've found no way to do it automatically), but it got the job done.
Then again, on those type of machines, we generally can schedule an automatic scan locally simply be leaving the computer on at night, or on a weekend..
