Virus scan (using McAfee) uploaded documents in a web application

My web application has a new requirement to allow users to upload documents which we pass along for storage in our backend system. Naturally, we want to have some level of protection of malware being accidentally or intentionally uploaded so we need to virus scan those documents before passing to the backend.

I'm aware of open source solutions like Clam AV, but we already have McAfee enterprise software installed on our servers and need to utilize that somehow if I can.

My issue is: how do I utilize McAfee from within my web application to perform on-demand scans of uploaded documents? Thinking some command line or web socket would be ideal which I can execute from my web apps java server side code, but I'm struggling to find any information of what McAfee might provide.
