Stinger Stop Error 0x24 in LiveCD Environment

I've been running stinger in a Windows PE 3.1 (a part of the Windows Automated Installation Kit from Microsoft and different from BartPE, this is basically a LiveCD version of Windows 7 SP1) environment.  This worked well for a while, but recently (some time in the last few months) it has started causing the machine to encounter a BSOD 0x24 when the "Rootkits" scan option is selected in the settings (deselecting this option allows it to run fine).  This does not appear to happen against a normal VM, only when I run it under Windows PE.  The error output is as follows:

*** STOP:  0x00000024 (0x001904FB, 0x8A3E0468, 0x8A3E0040, 0x85E44D1B)

***     Ntfs.sys - Address 85E44D1B base at 85E2F000, DateStamp 4ce7892c

Any thoughts on what might be causing the issue?  I know that normally a 0x24 error would be a filesystem problem, but that doesn't make sense in this environment.
