McAfee AutoUpdate: UpdaterUI.exe - Unable To Locate DLL

hi

I have VirusScan Eneterprise 8.0.0 patch 11 installed on the WIN2000 prof. SP4 workstation.
if I try to start a Winmap, then I get this error message:

the dynamic link library MSVCR71.dll could not be found in the specified path...

there are some paths to winmap, pcanywhere, ssh etc.

to deinstall & reinstall winmap doesn't help.

what's wrong and howto solve this problem ?

kind regards
cccc

RE: McAfee AutoUpdate: UpdaterUI.exe - Unable To Locate DLL

MSVCR71.DLL is a .NET-Framework component!
And VSE8.0i doesn't use the .NET-Framework.
So I think so, the issue comes not with VSE8.0i.

Please search on your harddrive for MSVCR71.dll and you will find many paths.
Under run as type "cmd" and then "set" to show your path variables.

RE: McAfee AutoUpdate: UpdaterUI.exe - Unable To Locate DLL

thanks,

I have .NetFramework version 2.0 installed , but MSVCR71.DLL seems to be a part of .NetFramework 1.1

should I install .NetFramework 1.1 as well ?

RE: McAfee AutoUpdate: UpdaterUI.exe - Unable To Locate DLL

Yes, you may need them both.

Both .NET 1.1 and 2.0 can run on the same machine. AFter installing .NET Framework 1.1, then make sure to install SP1 for that product and then the Security update for SP1. See the links below for the downloads.:

Microsoft .NET Framework Version 1.1 Redistributable Package

Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1

ASP.NET Security Update for Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1 Service Pack 1

Hope this helps.

UdaterUI.exe - Entry Point Not Found

I have a similar problem but with different DLLs. My message appears on every boot and only at boot. A box appears titled:

"UdaterUI.exe - Entry Point Not Found"

With the text:

"The procedure entry point ?create@AProcess@@AAS_N_NPBG1@Z could not be located in the dynamic link library applib.dll"

I click "OK', it goes away, and it doesn't seem to affect anything other than annoying the heck outta me.

Thoughts?

RE: UdaterUI.exe - Entry Point Not Found

reregister all the dlls in the common framework folder from the command prompt using the regsvr32 command

start
cmd
browse to folder
Regsvr32.exe *.dll
choose ok

UdaterUI.exe - Entry Point Not Found

Tony,

Thanks for the suggestion, but that didn't do the trick. The regsvr32.exe *.dll wouldn't work with the star, so I wrote a simple FOR loop to register them. Below are the results. I got 4 different error messages, each applying to a number of files. I've listed the error messages below followed by the files associated with those messages. Not sure where to go from here, hope you can help.

RE: UdaterUI.exe - Entry Point Not Found

if you have a copy of the agent installer then try uninstall the installed one using the frminst.exe /forceuninstall (browse to this from the run box and add the switch do as local admin), this should remove most stuff then reboot and reinstall the agent package logged in again as a local admin.
