Automatic policy migration for entire system tree

Jump to solution

Hi

This is about the Endpoint Migration Assistant rather than the Upgrade Assistant, hope that's OK.

I want to ideally run the automatic policy migration for the whole system tree so the policies are all brought across and I can just focus on the endpoint migration. Am I correct in thinking the automatic policy migration is essentially passive process and there will be nothing done to the VSE endpoints? And, when I then migrate the endpoints to ENS, the policies will become active?

Any help much appreciated.

Paul

Hi @ptulloch ,

VSE & ENS policy are not shared. A system running on VSE only uses VSE Policies and its likewise for ENS.

If the policies are migrated using Endpoint Migration Assistant, New ENS polices are created. These new policies retain exiting configuration, also it distributes according to the existing policy assignments.

Thanks

Hi @Pravas

Thanks so much for your reply. Sorry to labour the issue, but it sounds like you're confirming what I thought? That I can run the policy migration safely, because it will not affect anything until I start deploying ENS to the endpoints?

Hi @ptulloch ,

Yes, ENS policy applies to ENS endpoints only. So unless there's a ENS installed on the system the policy is unused.

Hope this answers your query.
