end point security installing problems

Hi,

When i use the EPO for the disinstallation of the old products like virusscann edn host intrusion prevention i have no problems, the problems arrive when i try to install the ENS by the EPO.

There are 2 different situation after the disinstallation of VS end HIP:

1) i need to reboot the pc and after that i can install the ENS by the EPO

2) i need to remove the agent and then install it again

I would like to install ENS by EPO whitout call the costumers for the rebooting or the disinstallation of the agent

cerquiglini,

Q1.  Create a reboot command with EEDK and use appropriately.

Q2. Very little few problems with 5.5.0.447 installing over 4.8.x through 5.0.6.x, does require a reboot.

HTH,

DocB

Re: end point security installing problems

Unfortunately you cannot get away with out rebooting the machines when you move from one McAfee product to another product. Options are you can align the MA upgrade with your windows monthly patching (if your clients patch monthly).

What are you talking about? You can remove VSE by way of a ENS install and not be forced to reboot the machine, it works just fine.

Re: end point security installing problems

You are referring to suppressing the reboot. Ens installation guide recommends to reboot machine after upgrading from car to ens.

Re: end point security installing problems

I'm not referring to the suppression of the reboot prompt at all, that's controlled through the agent, but that's beside the point. I know the guide recommends a reboot, but it is not required. The product is fully functional without a reboot from an AV perspective - firewall might be a different issue.
