ePO Agent vs ENS Agent

Jump to solution

I am familiar with ePO with VSE, SC and DLP

Now with ENS (with ePO management) which agent shall I use? Is it McAfee agent or ENS agent?

What are the decision factors?

ENS Platform and TP are VSE.

ATP is a new product - it was/ is available as Tie Module for VSE if using the legacy product

DLP has no replacement, I'm not quite sure what you mean with SC, if you are referring to Solidcore then there is also no replacement for that product either.

HI Avit,
"Endpoint Security Platform" is the foundation for Endpoint Security product. This must be installed onto the system, then TP (Threat Prevention), FW (Firewall) and WC (WebControl) can be added as modules to add the required functionality.

To manage machine it is always McAfee Agent that is needed.

ENS is just the AV product that is needs to be installed.

I am evaluating the Software now. Please elaborate the following products, what are their equivalent in the earlier version? I am looking for VSE, SC and DLP replacements.

Adaptive_Threat_Protection
Endpoint_Security_Platform
Threat_Prevention

Thank You.

Threat_Prevention = VSE

What is the role of Endpoint_Security_Platform?

Thanks got it.

Just noticed, when we deploy TP, the ENS platform automatically gets installed.

I think it is worth noting that ENS does not equate to VSE.  First,  it has a more advanced scanning engine,  and second,  it includes an upgraded HIPS.

Re: ePO Agent vs ENS Agent

These 3 products only replaced VSE

Adaptive_Threat_Protection - This a new real-time behavior detection in ENS
Endpoint_Security_Platform
Threat_Prevention

For SolidCore is now called McAfee Application Control and DLP is still DLP.

Hi Avilt,

There is no agent for ENS. The only agent is the McAfee Agent.
McAfee Agent is responsible for sending events and download new polices etc.
