Web Control is it worth to install?

Hi,

I'm looking for advice I had to deploy Thread Protection (for sure) in my company to over 300 workstations, but I wonder if I should install Web Control, my concerns:

1.Many of my users working with Firefox and I already deployed thread protection with web control for testing to 5 workstations, none of them have Firefox Extension Enabled by default despite that all Mcafee services are running. So I don't want to manually enabling this extenstion of every computers. Do you think that Mcafee release hotfix to fix this?
2. I do already black/white list of websites on my gateway router.
3.The biggest problem in my environment I have with cryptolockers, do you think that Web Protection going to extra protect me?
4. I have still some older and slower workstations with Windows XP, doesn't this service slow them more?
5.If a user without Web Control but with active Thread Prevention download a virus file from website will he be still protected?

So are there really advantages of Web Protection over Thread Protection alone, did you install it in your environment? please advice me. Thank you.

I am going to move this over to ENS team for them to better answer your questions.

Re: Web Control is it worth to install?

1. see KB87568

2. If you already have something blacklisted on your gateway level, it won't get to the endpoint so no need to do the same for ENSWC if you had it installed.

3. You should look into the ATP module for ENS. This will provide extra protection for those type of threats

4. ENS does not support Windows XP.

5. If a user downloads something and it's executed on the local box, then yes the on access scanner would be triggered if it's a definition we are aware of and have coverage of.

Re: Web Control is it worth to install?

1. I read this document, there is nothing about GPO deployment regarding Firefox - so it is useless.

3  If I in "Software catalog" in endpoint security I do not have anywhrere Adaptive Threat Prevention option to download, this mean this product is not licensed for me?
