VSE to ENS?

Jump to solution

VSE and ENS are comparable products (AV, FW, etc), right? Is McAfee moving from VSE to ENS?

Our systems use ePO to manage VSE, and it appears it can also manage ENS.

Can the ENS Web Control be used by itself alongside VSE, or would it be best to go to ENS and use it that way?

Thanks!

ENS isn't just a VSE replacement - it's a major upgrade in technology. Efficacy is way better, it includes next gen tech like containment and machine learning. VSE was just a DAT based antivirus software. In addition to the next gen stuff above ENS provides upgraded DAT protection (amcore vs vscore), exploit prevention, Firewall, and Web Control (which is based off of the old site advisor software) and now there is even ENS for Server which can prioritize on demand scanning based on hypervisor (CPU) load. This provides MOVE like efficiency with the ability to use next gen features.

ENS kicks butt.

Great question!
ENS is indeed the replacement to VSE.

EUA - KB88141 – Video and info, also when checking in the extension if you click on the EUA in software there is a an video tutorial as well.
ENS and VSE would not be on the same system. Site Advisor would be used along with VSE

Also see KB87476

ENS - McAfee Endpoint Security (ENS) Web Control 10.x
VSE - McAfee SiteAdvisor Enterprise (SAE) 3.5

Plan and test before migrating. - see known issues KB for ENS KB82450

The EUA tool at this stage of its life needs A LOT of testing in your environment
