Realtime scanning

Jump to solution
My company currently uses Trend Micro Worry Free and I have realtime scanning enabled. However I have created a test environment using McAfee Endpoint Security because we are considering making a change. I am using ePolicy Orchestrator console to set policies, etc. I am a little confused about how to make sure realtime scanning is enabled and what it's actually called in the McAfee software. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: Realtime scanning

Jump to solution

Our realtime scanning feautre within ENS is mainly be the "On-Access-Scanner".

As a quick overview of the rest:

The On-Demand Scanner is a scan which you can set up to run either on a schedule or for example via a right click on a file.

Access Protection allows you to set up rules to block or monitor targets when certain operations are performed i.e. block execution of .cmd files

Exploit Prevention prevents buffer overflow and other exploits - is in a sense also "real time".

Other realtime scanners can be found in our advanced threat prevention module which acts as an add-on to McAfee Endpoint Security. This is module decides what to do based on file reputation, rules, and reputation thresholds. It provides more advanced real time scanning and dynamic application containment. For more information on this module, please see (https://community.mcafee.com/t5/Documents/Adaptive-Threat-Protection/ta-p/552941)

Hope this helps, if you have any further questions, please reply and we'll be happy to clarify any uncertainties!
