Thanks for your post.
I would like to suggest you follow things:
1) Check whether the Operating System is compatible or not:

2) Check any third part AV or ENS is already Exist on the machine.
3) Try to check C:\Windows\Temp\McAfeeLogs in case of deploying from ePO, If manually installing please check %temp%\McAfeeLogs and you will get the installation log files.
4) Also if possible please try to reboot the machine and try installing again.

Thanks Vivs, i did get this sorted it with your help, it was OS version. The server was 2k8 not 2k8R2 as i thought it was :).
All sorted now
