One of our developers reached out to us and told us the McSheild.exe was constantly running on his machine. We have a weekly full scan and it is now taking 20+ hours to run on his machine.
We recently changed our scan settings from using low utilization and running only when idle, to running anytime and using the new CPU throttling feature (25%) in 10.7.
Looking through the ODS logs I see that the scan starts, and several minutes later it stops with this message:
"Scan stopped due to service shutdown, scan will resume after next service restart"
These scans should be running until completion, so this strikes me as abnormal / unexpected behavior.
I can't find any documentation on what this actually implies in the support portal.
Has anybody come across this message before?
Hi @JePO1 ,
The message "Scan stopped due to service shutdown, scan will resume after next service restart" is generally observed when the service is shutting down such as system shutdown. However, in some cases, I found that it was observed due to defects. If you haven't applied ENS July/September 2020 update, I would suggest upgrading to September 2020 update.
Hi @yukikane ,
Thanks for the response. I upgraded the device to the September Release and the issue appears to be resolved. I will update you with a confirmation once the weekly full scan runs.
