OD Scan exclusion question

I have an ODScan policy that contains exclusions and I have assigned that policy to a group of servers. There is a Client Task for a full scan for these servers that will be assigned but the task also contains a section for exclusions. Which is used? Do I include the exclusions if both the policy and task? Are both used? Does one take a priority?

Re: OD Scan exclusion question

Hi @User61075048 ,

Thank you for contacting McAfee community support.

As per description it seems that you are using policy to apply on-demand scan and using customer on-demand scan to apply task which is asking you to apply exclusions again as it is independent setting apart from ODS policy.

What we need to understand here is that we have 2 ways to apply ODS scan.

1.Policy Based On-Demand scan and 2. Customer On-Demand scan

1.Policy Based On-Demand scan requires exclusions needs to be added in policy which can be configure from "Endpoint Security Threat Prevention : Policy Category > On-Demand Scan >(Policy name applied on machine)" and then use task called "Policy based On-Demand scan" under client task cataloge as per snapshot attached which will not ask you to add exclusion again.

Refer Link for Steps >>

2.Custom On-Demand scan task requires no setting or exclusions to be added under policy. It's just a task you can find under "Client task catalog" as per snapshot attached. When you assign Custom on-demand scan you need to add an exclusions separately and assign that task to machine.

Refer link for Steps:-

So No question of priority arise and policy and task exclusions are different as explained above.
