McAfee endpoint firewall blocks VMware enhanced authentication plugin

Jump to solution

I've been dealing with this for some time and I've just been disabling Endpoint Firewall, but we should be able to put some type of exclusion in for this?

Any time Endpoint Firewall is enabled, the VMware plugin will not load. I've looked through the logs but can't find where it's being blocked, but as soon as I disable firewall, it will load.

I am using Chrome when attempting to access our vCenter.

Any suggestions on how we can track down what exactly it's blocking so I can leave the firewall enabled and just exclude this plugin?

Hi @norsedakotan Please try the troubleshooting steps in KB90662.  Specifically, test with GTI disabled and/or Adaptive mode enabled (ensure full logging is enabled as well). It's likely some type of network traffic being blocked that configuration changes will be needed to address, but we'll have to identify what that traffic is.

I would also suggest opening a Service Request with McAfee Support, as we'll likely need to review the firewall logs (which might have sensitive information not appropriate for these forums).
