McAfee consuming high CPU on servers - WSV001 & CA47PWVISS027
Customer reporting McAfee consuming high CPU on servers - WSV001 & CA47PWVISS027
Couple of queries -
1) WSV001 is a legacy server with only 4 GB RAM and team is working on getting the application migrated to new servers. McAfee is intermittently spiking the utilization to the top 3 memory / CPU utilized processes running on the server causing entire server to hang /slow down. Is there any action / changes in running mode for McAfee that can be made to reduce the CPU and memory utilization by McAfee during business hours?
2) CA47PWVISS027 is a new replacement server that was provided. Even on this server , the team is reporting high memory / CPU utilized McAfee causing the server to hang. Please advise if there is a way to check the metrics to McAfee performance on this server?
> NO On Demand scan to be scheduled during the business hours
> Run the McAfee profiler & find out what are the top processes which are being scanned during the High CPU utilization and they can be defined in low risk or perhaps if you could add those processes in exclusions list .
> Follow the KB article : KB89354 & check if you are able t isolate and identify the CPU Spike .
If this does not help , Kindly capture the ProcMon and reach out to McAfee Technical Support .
