McAfee Endpoint Security Patch/Hotfix deployment

Jump to solution

I noticed that sometimes McAfee release hotfix(es) or patch for ENS. Is it correct that after you add this from Master repository, you have to create a client task (selecting the appropriate patches) + modify the policy for McAfee agent - General - Update tab (selecting the correct Branch)?

Also, is this something we can just deploy in production or we also need to test this in case there's a new problem that will surface after the update.

This is correct 🙂

Hotfixes/ Patches are deployed via Client Update tasks. The branch for the respective updates is set within the McAfee Agent - General policy in the Updates tab.

It is always recommend to test patches and hotfixes just like with full versions. Whilst testing is performed from a McAfee perspective, we (McAfee) can't account for all customers' environments and hence testing would be wise to ensure in your environment no unexpected issues arise.
