How to exclude Java.exe and javaw.exe

Jump to solution

What is the best practice to exclude directories and executable for Java.exe and Javaw.exe?

Profiler shows the two top processes that OAS scanner scanning. CPU 45%. Causing performance issue.

Exccluding  Java.exe and javaw.exe is not suggested. However you can look at which files specifically those processses are calling and if possible exclude those. Also it is possible that those processes are calling some files from specific locations which could be excluded.

Keeping  Java.exe and javaw.exe into process exclusions will cause the environment to be vulnerable. So rather than keeping the complete process into exclusions, look for the file that you can add into exclusions.

You can use Mcafee Profiler or Procmon to figure out the the target files.

I run the Profiler and have result. I like help on analyzing the result so we can exclude proper files that are being called by these processes.

@User16096767 If you were to upload the profiler output, we could take a look. It is possible that you may need to engage with Support for the quickest assistance, but we're happy to determine whether or not it would be necessary by reviewing it here ahead of time.

Hi,

I would not suggest to exclude Java.exe and Javaw.exe processes as this can be triggered by any malicious content where the source may contanin these processes and your environment would become vulnerable.

However, you can find the complete path where the processes were called and can exclude them.
