Endpoint Security (ENS) - ISOLATED SYSTEM **NO INTERNET---NO INTERNET**NO INTERNET---NO INTERNET**

Jump to solution

Isolated 2016 domain in a classified environment.  Endpoint Security (ENS) 10.6.1 Threat Prevention only thing installed.  Need help to understand how to setup manual repository and where I go to get updates.  If there is an easier way to update like creating scheduled tasks and pointing to an update executable...whatever.  I have an application but no way to utilize.  Need updates as dummy proof as possible for my admins.

Any help is appreciated.

Cheers.

One suggested solution to get the AMCORE updates could be:

1. Download the V3_****dat.exe (where **** is the DAT version) from the McAfee website (https://www.mcafee.com/enterprise/en-us/downloads/security-updates.html) and place it on a shared repository location

2. Rename it to (e.g.) todaysDAT.exe

3. Setup a scheduled task on each system to run todaysDAT.exe from the shared location

But this does require some manual steps. There are plenty of other options, but it depends on your setup. Does the system have any access to replicate from the ePO server? Or to another system which in turn can communicate to ePO? This would allow you to use a distributed repository which would automate the entire thing.

I wonder if EEDK would work for you - there are a couple more steps yet it should use ePO for  deploy/install ...

1)Manual download V3_****dat.exe

2) winrar SFX with something like

;The comment below contains SFX script commands

Path=%SystemRoot%\Temp\
SavePath
Setup="%SystemRoot%\Temp\V3_****dat.exe"
Silent=1
Overwrite=1

3) use EEDK to create an ePO package

4) upload to ePO and 5) create a timed deployment task with a command /s

There may be some commands that could be added to the winrar SFX setup:... So, everyday download, open the previous day winrar sfx, swap out exe, EEDK it and upload.

Can it reach a TIE server with ATP over DXL?  if so,  I would not worry too much about DATs...  maybe once a month just manually do it. The risk to the system is very low, assuming it can't get email either.

Just my opinion.

Stand-alone isolated domain.  Manual update or scheduled task is likely best bet I would presume. Thanks for the input!

Tried this, as I anticipated it may be the easiest best bet, but it would work with a renamed .dat file.  Also, my user access control is activated, per STIG requirements, and the scheduled task wouldn't run.  I guess a batch file may work but I wouldn't know where to start.  Appreciate your help!
