ENS Compatibility Issues & A Question Around the Loopback Address

Hi Community Members,

Our customer has ENS installed on their estate and on a few systems there is a software product installed which is failing to activate even after disabling the security products, such  as MCP, ENS and another non-McAfee security product to no avail.

The particular software vendor has listed ENS as being incompatible with their software and has instructed that the port specified in a particular file is unblocked - this file contained the following entry:

{"Addr":"127.0.0.1:58931"}

Has anyone seen anything like this before? Surely the local loopback address would not be blocked and one usually doesn't specify ports with the loopback address.

Any ideas, guys?

Re: ENS Compatibility Issues & A Question Around the Loopback Address

Hi @Nick_B ,

I understand disabling the security products has not helped so far.

Please provide the following details

1) Which Modules of ENS are installed?

2) Does it help if ENS is uninstalled?

The loopback address is allowed in ENS Firewall default rules.

If disabling ENS helps, then please log a ticket with support for deeper investigation.

Thanks

Re: ENS Compatibility Issues & A Question Around the Loopback Address

Hi @Pravas

Thanks for reaching out on this issue!

So the McAfee products deployed to the machine in question where the testing was conducted (as well as the majority of the desktops & laptops on this estate) are as follows:

McAfee Agent 5.7.2.162

McAfee DXL Client 6.0.3.278

ENS - Platform 10.7.0.2648

ENS - Threat Prevention 10.7.0.2725

ENS - Adaptive Threat Protection 10.7.0.2847

McAfee Client Proxy 4.0.0.193

DLP 11.6.100.412

McAfee Drive Encryption 7.2.10.64

The product which is failing to activate is called FeatureCam 2021 from Autodesk. Actually it does list a number of conflicting apps as seen in this article below:

https://knowledge.autodesk.com/support/autocad/troubleshooting/caas/sfdcarticles/sfdcarticles/Autode...

The article doesn't specifically say ENS should be uninstalled although it seems that this may be required, as the IP/port referenced in the file at

%ProgramData%\Autodesk\AdskLicensingService\AdskLicensingService.data

is
{"Addr":"127.0.0.1:58931"}

However, the ENS Firewall is not deployed so like you said, it would make this irrelevant.

In our tests so far, disabling ENS (as well as MCP) has not helped. We may look to remove ENS next week when there is another test scheduled with the customer if this is approved.

I look forward to any suggestions on this matter.

Thanks again!
