Does McAfee scan IMG and ISO files?

Jump to solution
I have an problem with McAfee endpoint security. The McAfee endpoint security maybe don't scan IMG and ISO files. Because, If an file IMG or ISO contains EXE malware file inside, McAfee can't delete the malware. If I extract IMG or ISO, McAfee can delete the malware.

ISO and IMG files are not contained within our scanned file extensions. This is due to the nature and complexity of the file type. Parts of the file type can't be read by the scanner. However when you execute the file and it contains something malicious, that malicious thing executed will no longer be an ISO or IMG, it will likely be something that is able to be scanned. So it would be picked up by the On Access Scanner.

Well MCAFEE forgot to mention their own product so the Partner does for them:

Block it on your E-Mail Filter (McAfee Security for Exchange) with the Extension filters

There is no smart reason to let ISO or IMG (Winimage) files incoming except in IT Departments.

If you have Exchange and you have the McAfee Suites (Licences pakcages) you have

Mcafee Security For Exchange 8.6 which you can Install on your Exchange 2010/2013/2016. If you don't have the Exchange inpremise in some CLOUD then take it back and get controll.

We have realy expensive E-Mail SPAM filter like Fortimail and Fortisandbox but from time to time catch Things by McAfee Security for Exchange. It's included in the Suite so use it 😉

Greetings from Switzerland and from and old Exchange Pro
