Re: Detect user install new application.

Hi @Satish_Talatam ,

Access Protection can help detect .exe & .dll file placed by an installer in Windows & Program files folders.

You may use them in Report Only mode if desired.

The rules are as follows:

Creating new executable files in the Program Files folder

Creating new executable files in the Windows folder

Please refer the link below.

Thanks

@Pravas

Thanks for the response.

Does the rule detects new application installation? Or the updates of existing applications as well ?

I notice many alerts from Adobe

Re: Detect user install new application.

Hi Team,

Please clarify if the rule detects only new application installation or the existing applications as well.

We notice the rule is detecting for existing applications as well.

Thanks in advance

Re: Detect user install new application.

Hi @Satish_Talatam ,

The rules triggers for both existing & new applications as long as the conditions are met.

Please refer the aforementioned doc about the rules.

Thanks

Re: Detect user install new application.

@Pravas

I am looking for a rule to detect new installation only.

We want to block installation of new applications whilst we allow the upgrade of existing applications.

Re: Detect user install new application.

Hi @Satish_Talatam ,

There's another product known as Application & Change control that helps prevent unauthorize changes on a system.

It blocks any new installation as well.

It may take lot of tweaking for Access Protection to do the same Task.

For example, imagine there are 10 pre-installed apps and all generate events. You would require to exclude all these apps. Now this no. may grow and requires frequent tuning.

Furthermore custom rules are not supported as mentioned in the KB Below.

Thanks
