Below are some checks that you must be performing :
1. Do you have any OnDemand Scan running on the machine at the moment ?
2. What is the uptime of the machine ? if the up time is high rebooting the machine would be a good idea.
3. Was the machine restarted after installation of ENS or was the machine restarted in case if there was any recent upgrade of ENS ?
4. Do you have another AV installed in the same machine ? -- ENS must be scanning all activities done by another AV
5. Is there any known Realtime application running on the machine ? Then it must be excluded from scanning if the application is known and trusted by you.
6. Are you on the latest version of ENS ? If not i would recommend you to update to the latest version to check if it helps (a reboot is required post upgrade) .

root cause was point 1. OnDemand Scan was running on the machine at the moment (2 days by the way).
