We have a business application that's taking 10-12 mins to open. The vendor does have any recommended exclusions but when we excluded a path that is related to the appl (CDO) it took a few mins less to open. Hoping that there something else we can try to get the app to start up faster.
Exclusions is the major part to add properly, When the application is being open, It reads and write to disk so while adding exclusions you need to exclude from read/write as well. If you are using ENS or VSE - You can add the exclusions in Low Risk Policy by adding the process name or path (selecting as do not scan when read & write). If it still takes time to open the application then you can run the McAfee Profiler for 5 min and then you can see what all process, dlls , extensions is being scanned by OAS which you will give you an idea what to add in exclusions in terms of opening this application in faster way. If it still doesnt help then you can use Microsoft Tool Prcomon ( Process Monitor ) to determine what is being scanned when the application starts or close. If you are having difficulty in analyzing the logs then you can raise a ticket with McAfee Technical Support to investigate further for proper solution.

Can you advise us on how you created the exclusions/ where you placed them? As my colleage mentioned, it's likely that you need to set the executables as low risk processes and define these not to be scanned (depending on what the vendor advised). If you set the executables under the "default processes" tab then you defined only the file to be excluded and not the process itself.
