BSOD System_Service_Exception BSOD

McAfee ENS 10.5.5 crashes Windows 7 or 10 workstations, when opening or copying file named device_manager.js. This file part of Thunderbird installation. To recreate the problem create empty txt file, rename it device_manager.js, try to open file in notepad or copy this file.

I just noticed that on every workstation that had this BSOD crash, McAfee Agent never started after several reboots. 
Manually starting masvc as administrator and rebooting fixed the problem.

I was unable to reproduce the problem in my LAB, following your instructions;

Can you please open a Service Request so we can investigate what is causing problem in your environment.

Please collect following data and add it to the SR:

- Full memory DUMP:
How to create a memory dump for analysis by Technical Support Technical Articles ID: KB56023

- MER after DUMP was generated:
How to use Minimum Escalation Requirements (MER) tools with supported McAfee products Technical Articles ID: KB59385

Did not expect this, but i can confirm same issue on ENS10.6.1.

got a BSOD after right click --> Edit

For the issue we could reproduce we have created a fix and it is currently going through our quality control checks. I'll update this thread with a fixed version, as soon we have confirmation.

I've added a note to your SR, the owner of your case will validate it is the same behaviour and will reach out to you independantly.

This is expected to be fixed in the November Update for 10.5.5 and 10.6.1

The KB will be updated once this has been verified!
