Adaptable Threat Prevention blocks suspicious obsfuscated command which is NOT obfuscated

Jump to solution
Hello, we are experiencing a blocking from Adaptable Threat Protection to our company-wide application (iriaCAPI.exe, internally developed). The rule ID fired is 505: "Detect obfuscated cmd.exe command line parameters". The command detected as "obfuscated" was (from cmd.exe): cmd /c "tasklist /nh /fo csv | find """7652"""" As you can see, the command is NOT obfuscated at all (maybe the quotation marks is confusing the algorithm). It would be posible for McAfee to redefine this rule?? If not, what can we do?? Thanks.

Hi @cportero

Thank you for posting in community forum. This rule is designed to analyze command line parameters passed to programs to alert on potentially obfuscated strings that could indicate malicious behavior. As in your case, the detection seems to be a false positive, could you please submit a false positive case using service portal and provide the details as per below KB to check this further with McAfee Labs.
