10.5.3 Won't update. Default Client Update/Source Sites for Updates: Error loading settings

Jump to solution

Using Windows 10. Whenever I try run 'Update Now', it says update failed. I reinstalled ENS a couple of times, but no luck.

When I look in the Settings, Show Advanced, Tasks, I get to see that there was an 'Error loading settings.' for both "Default Client Update" and "Source Sites for Updates".

I've tried both "No proxy server" and "Use system proxy settings".

Hi BEllis,

I passed your response to our IT department. I don't know if they contacted your support department (I myself do not have the reguired grant number to contact you directly).

Anyway, a couple of days later, I got some Windows updates (these are blocked by our IT department, and only released after they've been tested). After that, I tried to remove and reinstall Endpoint Security, and this time it worked. I can now again update the virus-profiles.

But exactly what the problem was, we will probably never know.

Nonetheless, thank you for your help.

The only thing I can say is that perhaps you haven't installed all Windows updates. That, apparently, was my problem. Our IT department blocked some updates, because they wanted to test them first. After releasing them, my McAfee problem was suddenly over.

what was the solution for this? I have tried removing Mcafee product using removal tool and reinstall and I still see Error loading settings

for Default Client Update and Source sites for updates.
