Removal of McAfee Saas Security as a Service Enforced Antivirus Client

Jump to solution

I am looking for help in removing McAfee Security as a Service.  We installed this software as part of SonicWall's enforced antivirus client.  Since we have upgraded to Windows 10 and the software no longer works.  SonicWall is no longer a partner with McAfee so I don't have access to any of their resources or a grant number to sign up for them.  The McAfeeASAP site does not work any longer.

I was able to find a 2011 version of mvsuninst.exe online; however after running it it only removed some of the services and all of the files seem intact.  I want to make sure I remove all of it and don't have refinements of it on all my computers.

Is there a public download or a different tool that I can use to get all of the McAfee software off our computers?

Mike

Hi @MikeOrlando02

I'm afraid there is no longer a tool available that would remove this software. It's been End of Support for some time now. The reason the software won't be working is because it won't be compatible with Windows 10.

To be honest you would need to look at a manual removal here. Start by running any uninstall commands you can find via the registry: HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall

Following that, check for any leftovers in the following locations (they won't be 100% the same, but will be similar): https://kb.mcafee.com/agent/index?page=content&id=KB86850

Thank you for the advice. I was able to randomly find a more current version of mvsuninst.exe online and it removed everything that I am aware off automatically. Thanks again for your time.
